Meet The Researcher

I went to an agricultural high school in Sydney and often surprise people from regional Australia (especially farmers) with my understanding of what they do and where they're from.

I was inspired to become involved in MS research after my clinical fellowship in Oxford, where they have a strong tradition of bench-to-bedside scientific research and I had the opportunity to work with internationally renown researchers and clinicians in the field.

The discovery that B cells have an important role in the pathophysiology of MS. This has already lead to important treatment advances (anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies) and the hope of future treatments now in phase II/III clinical trials.

My project focuses on Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) in people with MS. It aims to understand what treatments are being used, how treatments are chosen and monitored, and the factors affecting treatment adherence.

The results of this research will further improve the judicious, appropriate, safe, and efficacious use of disease-modifying therapies for people with MS.

What I enjoy most is meeting different people with MS and being able to make a difference in their lives. The main challenge is time – there's never enough!
